Van Gogh painted this view of the Provençal countryside in 1888. A yellow farmhouse sits in the sunlight, with haystacks nearby and a winding stone wall that leads to a gate. Red flowers add bright accents, and a small figure walks through the tall grass. The scene is full of warm light and colour, and the landscape invites the eye to travel along the wall and into the distance. Van Gogh is known for bold colours and expressive brushwork, and landscapes were an important part of his work.
On your wall: Its warm yellows, greens and touches of red suit living rooms, dining areas and hallways, and bring a sunny, countryside feel to bright or neutral interiors.
