This is a floral still life in oil on canvas, showing a bouquet of irises standing in a vase. Vincent van Gogh painted it while he was staying at the psychiatric clinic in Saint-Rémy, a town near Arles, where he continued to work on a number of paintings. The subject is a single bouquet, so the attention rests on the flowers themselves, their shapes and their colour. Today the painting is kept in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
On your wall: A bouquet of irises suits a living room, dining area, hallway or study, where a floral subject can bring colour and a calm focal point.

Vincent van Gogh was a Dutch Post-Impressionist painter, regarded as one of the most influential figures in Western art. In little over a decade he produced around 2,100 works, including about 860 oil paintings, most of them in his final two years. He is known for landscapes, still lifes and portraits, painted in bold colour with expressive, energetic brushwork.
