Painted in 1889, this landscape looks towards mountains behind Saint-Paul Hospital. Van Gogh set clouds in the sky above the peaks, with a house and fields in the land below. It is an oil painting on canvas, and the work is held at the Statens Museum for Kunst. Van Gogh's landscapes are known for bold colour and lively, expressive brushwork, and this view of hills, sky and open ground suits that approach.
On your wall: Its landscape subject of mountains, fields and sky suits living rooms, studies and hallways where a calm, open view of the countryside is welcome.
