This is plate 88 by Henri Privat-Livemont, dated 1895. It belongs to the Maîtres de l'affiche, a collection of posters whose second volume includes it, and it is also filed under Cabourg, which points to the subject of the design. Privat-Livemont was a Belgian Symbolist painter and Art Nouveau decorator, and his poster work is a good place to see that decorative sensibility at home on the printed page. It suits anyone who enjoys the look of late nineteenth-century poster art.
On your wall: A good fit for a study, hallway or sitting room where vintage posters and Art Nouveau touches are already welcome.
