A dramatic Art Nouveau lithograph poster by Henri Privat-Livemont, where decorative lettering meets a stark, unsettling scene.

This lithograph poster by Henri Privat-Livemont advertises 'Le masque anarchiste' in La Réforme, with the date 21 November in its title. At its centre, a man raises an axe over a red-haired woman. Around them runs a decorative border of bloodied heads and a skull, alongside the word 'Montjuich'. The poster combines Art Nouveau styling, including its distinctive lettering and the stylised figure of the woman, with a much darker subject than the movement is usually known for. Privat-Livemont was a Belgian Symbolist painter and Art Nouveau decorator.
