This 1897 poster by Henri Privat-Livemont advertises the Manufacture Royale de Corsets PD of Brussels. It shows a red-haired woman holding a hand mirror in one hand and lilies in the other, set out in the graceful, decorative manner of Art Nouveau. The lettering of the maker's name is part of the design, and the artist's signature and the year, 1897, appear on the sheet. Privat-Livemont was a Belgian painter and decorator who worked in the Art Nouveau and Symbolist spirit, and the poster reflects that decorative sensibility.
On your wall: Its red hair, lilies and period lettering suit a bedroom, dressing room or hallway, and sit well in a study or sitting room with a vintage character.
