Ludwig Hohlwein made this poster in 1910 for Herrsching Keramische Werkstätten. The upper half shows a still life of three vases set in front of a tiled wall, while in the upper left corner we see the apparatus of a potter's wheel, a quiet nod to how such pieces are made. The lower half is given over to lettering, so image and text share the sheet in two distinct parts. Hohlwein was a German poster artist and a pioneer of the Sachplakat style, and he came to poster design after training and working as an architect in Munich.
On your wall: It suits a kitchen, dining room, studio or hallway, and will sit happily among ceramics, shelves of crockery or other vintage graphic pieces.

Ludwig Hohlwein was a German poster artist who helped pioneer the Sachplakat style. He began his career as an architect, training and practising in Munich, before turning his attention to poster design.
