Geläute is a 1928 painting by Paul Klee, the Swiss-born German artist whose individual style drew on expressionism, cubism and surrealism. The title, which can be read as a ringing or chiming of bells, invites you to look at the picture as something to be heard as well as seen. Today the painting is held in the Kunstmuseum Basel, in Switzerland. It is a good work to spend time with, letting its shapes and the idea of sound guide your eye.
On your wall: Its abstract character suits a living room, study or hallway where a modern piece can sit quietly and give visitors something to think about.

Paul Klee was a Swiss-born German artist whose style was entirely his own. Over his career he drew on several movements, including expressionism, cubism and surrealism, and blended these influences into work that remains unmistakably his. For a Swiss customer, there is something pleasing in seeing a compatriot's imagination so distinctively at play.
