About this artwork

Thomas Moran painted this landscape in 1904 in oil on canvas, taking the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone as his subject. Moran was an American painter and printmaker associated with the Hudson River School, and his work often turned to the Rocky Mountains. The painting is now in the Honolulu Museum of Art. It sits comfortably within his lifelong interest in the dramatic scenery of the American West.

On your wall: A canyon landscape like this suits a living room, study or hallway where a large, open view of the natural world can set a calm and spacious mood.
