About this artwork

Thomas Moran painted Hot Springs of the Yellowstone in 1872, working in oil on canvas. The title points to the thermal springs of the Yellowstone region, and the picture is a landscape in the tradition of the Hudson River School, with which Moran is associated. He was an American painter and printmaker whose work often turned to the Rocky Mountains, and this view belongs with that interest in the western landscape. The painting is now in the collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.

On your wall: It suits a living room, study or hallway where a landscape with a sense of open space and natural drama can hold the wall.
