Meguro jijigachaya, or "Grandpa's Teahouse" in Meguro, dates from 1857 and belongs to Utagawa Hiroshige's One Hundred Famous Views of Edo. It is a colour woodblock print, measuring 36.3 by 24.1 cm, in the upright format used for many designs in the series. Hiroshige is regarded as the last great master of the ukiyo-e tradition, and this view of a teahouse in Meguro shows his interest in the everyday places of Edo.
On your wall: Its Japanese subject and the calm of a teahouse view suit a study, hallway, living room or any quiet corner where you want a little contemplation.

Utagawa Hiroshige, born Andō Tokutarō and also known as Andō Hiroshige, was a Japanese artist who worked in the ukiyo-e tradition. He is regarded as the last great master of that tradition, and his name remains closely tied to the form. His prints are a fine way to bring that heritage into a home.
