About this artwork

This is a poster by Leonetto Cappiello, dated 1912, advertising the old liqueurs of Marie Brizard et Roger. Its title points to 1755 as the year the house was created, a date that sits at the heart of the message. Cappiello worked mainly in Paris and is often called the father of modern advertising. He was known for placing bold figures against black backgrounds, a striking change from the more painterly posters that came before. This work belongs with his alcohol advertising posters.

On your wall: It would suit a dining room, a home bar or a kitchen, and anywhere a retro, vintage touch would be welcome on the wall.
